“In the last two years I painted on A4 paper, in an abstract way, the same type of leaves that I have been reproducing since 2012 on a larger scale. (In the 70’s I built tree-like sculptures with pieces of tree trunk that had been discarded).
The huge leaf paintings, intended to be closer to trees, (this is the reason why they are so tall) are based on the relationship that has existed since Greek architecture between trees, human figures, columns, especially in the Corinthian style. Since Coronavirus, instead of painting upright leaves, I realise that unconsciously the leaves were taking the shape of the female reproductive organ as an affirmation of life.”

The gallery will be open to visitors during this exhibition with Covid safety measures in place. We would ask that visitors wear masks and maintain social distancing during their visit.
